Parkside's Summer Social Series 7/16/2017
with guest chefs Wayne & Danielle Van Steen

East-coasters Danielle and Wayne hail from Massachusetts and North Carolina respectively, cultivating a shared passion of the culinary arts while in school. Starting their careers separately at the base level, they worked their way up through the ranks, eventually meeting each other in Portland, Oregon. Enticed by the rising farm-to-table trend and wanting to get to the literal roots of cooking, the pair spent months traveling throughout Thailand farming sustainable foods, building gardens, and growing as people. Returning to the States, they chose Los Angeles as their new home, hungry to discover new cooking styles the city had to offer. After years of honing their restaurant management skills and with nomadic blood coursing through their veins, the pair headed for Austin, unclear what the city had in store for them; the duo decided to launch Crossroads and share with the world their love of local sustainable ingredients in great tasting food.


Executive Chef Nathan Lemley welcomes talented chefs to Parkside's kitchen to collaborate on a multi-course menu for Summer Socials, an intimate and approachable series featuring standout cuisine and libations in a buzzing atmosphere. The Summer Socials chef lineup includes Brandon Silva of Wooster’s Garden and Heights Bier Garten (Houston) and Lyle Bento of Southern Goods (Houston). 

“We want guests to be able to socialize with friends in a fun, lively environment while enjoying creative food and drinks,” said Lemley. “I’m thrilled to welcome and work alongside three very skilled chefs this summer.”

During the Summer Socials, attendees can experience adventurous, upscale bar food and specialty cocktails from popular chefs. This series will take place on Parkside’s second floor patio overlooking Austin’s bustling and historic 6th Street, where friends can gather on the outdoor rooftop patio for an evening of socializing, accompanied by a delicious meal. Tickets will be priced at $35 per person, which includes three tickets for three different specialty cocktails, three courses from Chef Lemley and three courses from the guest chef.
